With over 40 years of service, Geisinger Life Flight is the leader in medical air transportation in central and northeast Pennsylvania. We are nationally recognized in safety with quality measures that exceed the National Transportation Safety Board requirements such as night vision equipment, single pilot instrument flight certification, and satellite tracking systems. Our program averages 3,200 flights per year with nine state-of-the-art helicopters that are equipped for adverse weather conditions and night vision to ensure a safe flight at any time. Life Flight has transported more than 73,000 patients. In 2018 Life Flight continued their commitment and investment to providing exceptional patient care. In the spring, we welcomed a new state-of-the-art helicopter, and in July we expanded service to the Lehigh Valley through an air medical collaboration with St. Luke’s University Health Network. Due to expansion, in July 2019 the program relocated its Life Flight 1 base from Geisinger Medical Center to Penn Valley Airport to dedicate the GMC campus hangar to maintenance operations.
