Global Ecovillage Network - GEN BHARAT

GEN Bharat’s goal is to advance earth and environment care and protection, citizen & community participation in local decision-making, influence policy-makers, educate the public & catalyse projects that expedite the shift to sustainable, responsible and resilient lifestyles in India. The Global Ecovillage Network (GEN) was set up in 1995 as an ecosystem and a growing network of regenerative communities and initiatives bridging cultures, countries and continents. With active presence and engagement in over 10,000 ecovillages and communities across 5 regional networks spanning 132 counties, GEN has been a beacon of inspiration, scaling and facilitation, empowering communities and individuals worldwide, with a consultative status in the UN(ECOSOC), and close alignment with the SDGs. GEN Bharat is not only the India Chapter for GEN International, but much more. GEN Bharat aims to "Catalyse communities for regenerating India" by linking, educating, supporting and creating ECOVILLAGES and ECO-COMMUNITIES for ecosystem restoration; growing the regenerative movement to inspire, scale and facilitate communities and people, so they can become active participants in the transition to a resilient, responsible and regenerative human presence. With multiple organisations working for systemic change; GEN Bharat's intention and aspiration is to unify the work for collective impact - through a cohesive, collaborative network by building national level regenerative ecosystems that create and distribute value for all, efficiently and equally. We manifest this contributes towards bringing an "Asian-continent-level-bioregional-systemic-impact" with India leading the way - in line with the national vision of ‘Viksit Bharat', though this growth has to be equitable for all humans and non-humans.
