GenAI Impact

GenAI Impact is a non-profit. We create open resources to minimize the environmental footprint of generative AI. Our mission is to provide everyone with the means to understand and assess the impact of their use of generative AI through: - The design and development of evaluation methodologies and open-source tools to quantify these impacts. - Awareness-raising initiatives and scientific outreach. Since 2024, GenAI Impact has been developing EcoLogits, an open-source Python library that estimates the energy consumption and environmental impact of using generative AI models via APIs. We have also designed EcoLogits Calculator, an accessible awareness tool that allows users to compare the impact of large language models (LLMs) and estimate them on a large scale.
