Gencat provides a range of services dedicated to professional drivers and transport undertakings. Concentrating on regulatory compliance, driver behaviour management, driver training and coaching. Gencat developed a number of advanced training and coaching programmes enabling drivers and transport managers work together to deliver efficient and effective road transport services. We developed and delivered an ECO driving programme in 2017 to 320 HGV drivers. The success of this programme was well documented and has been of tremendous value to the road transport industry, so much so that we are currently running the programme for 1,000 professional drivers on our online learning platform. Our venture into online training and coaching was with the Sprinter Programme. This was a collaboration of a number of training organisations and universities across Europe in an Erasmus Plus programme. The knowledge and insights have allowed us to develop quality focused and engaging content for professional drivers. Our Driver Academy was created to research and develop the promotion of the role of the professional driver and to train professional drivers into the role. Our students take on full-time paid working roles as helpers in home delivery crews. These crews deliver and install white goods. During their time with us, the trainees learn how to provide exceptional customer service, learn to navigate, handle and secure loads during transport. They are also trained to use tools and make wet and electrical connections. During this time, trainees and given training in shunting trucks in the distribution centre, then they receive their on-road driver training to gain their C & CE category licences. The Gencat driver Agency has an excellent reputation for providing skilled professional drivers to support our clients for holiday, illness and peak period cover. We are currently working at growing our professional driver base. Gencat support the work of the EPDA.ie and the UICR.
