In 2024, President Cyril Ramaphosa signed into law an Electricity Regulation Amendment Act, which aims to reform the South Africa's electricity sector, including but not limited to, establishment of a competitive electricity market. It is this amendment act which inspired the formation of electricity Generating Company aka GenCo board game, which simulates a South African electricity market in an effortlessly fun, innovative and intellectually rewarding way. The game simulates a 24 hour load demand cycle, showing which generation technologies operate at specific times using an innovative game mechanism, thus empowering players with knowledge about electricity market. The game is locally designed and made in South Africa for South Africans and the continent at large. The game targets following sectors but not limited to: Electricity utilities Lenders financing renewable energy projects Corporates - employee gifts - Company logo can be included on the game with minimum order of 100 units National Energy Regulators Business schools Universities System operators Independent Power Producers Electricity traders
