At the Generative Design Lab, we are pioneering the fusion of generative design and architectural innovation. We believe that machines are beginning to perceive architecture much like humans do. By leveraging Building Information Modeling (BIM), we develop advanced design automation algorithms that not only optimize performance but also generate countless innovative design alternatives. This generative approach empowers us to explore a vast design space, uncovering creative solutions that transcend traditional boundaries. Furthermore, our intelligent systems are evolving to understand the functions of various spaces and assess unseen factors such as energy efficiency through building physics and energy simulation. While current methods depend on basic simulations and quantitative analyses (Building analysis and simulation), our work marks the beginning of a transformative era in design. Looking ahead, machines will strive to capture every detail of human design (Big Data) and learn from our creative outputs (Machine learning).
