The Gentse 12urenloop is a yearly student sporting event organised on St. Peter's Square in Ghent, attracting some thousands students of which hundreds participate in the sporting activities
First and foremost, the 12urenloop is a relay race in which students' unions have to complete as much laps of aprox. 400 meters. The event takes place in the typical easy atmosphere associated with student life. Secondly, during the event St. Peter's Square is home to side animation provided by the organizing committee, the participating teams and our partners. In the so called 'fakbars' you can enjoy several cheap beverages or snacks while enjoying the DJ contest.
The 12urenloop Committee consists of 6 teams and around 20 members. The nature of the 12urenloop gives Committee Members the chance to develop valuable (leadership) skills and experience in event management in general, and in a certain field specifically.
