Our principal object is to prevent and control mental health disease arising from stroke and other disorders of the nervous system through the following activities: (a) To foster, support and actively encourage the study of and the acquisition, dissemination and application of knowledge and information concerning the causes, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of stroke and other disorders of the nervous system; (b) To encourage, stimulate and aid in medical research relating to the prevention, management and treatment of stroke and other disorders of the nervous system; (c) To raise public awareness of the causes, prevention and treatment of stroke and other disorders of the nervous system; (d) To asssist in the development and provision of support, alleviation of suffering or stress, and information for stroke survivors and carers.
Genyus Network offers a community capacity-building platform that enables individuals affected by stroke, brain injury, and other traumas to connect and share stories with peers, thereby enhancing th to participate in community life.
We provide Genyus Coffee Club: safe, inclusive online social meet-ups that enable peers to build and maintain new connections, while also developing their individual capacity to take on further leadership responsibilities.
We also provide Genyus Roundtable: peer-led focus groups to connect researchers with defined cohorts of people with lived experience, to build better outcomes through an unbiased lens. To date, Genyus Roundtable has provided over 500 pieces of research data for clients and research partners.
Genyus Network partners with Stroke Foundation, Australian Society for the Study of Brain Impairment, Stroke Association of Victoria, Heads Together for ABI, plus Monash, La Trobe and Deakin Universities to meet the unmet needs of survivor populations and improve the quality of life for all.
