GEO-NET is an interdisciplinary and technology-oriented company concentrating on Renewable Energies, Environmental Meteorology and Environmental Planning. Project developments and detailed analyses have been carried out since 1996. GEO-NET is a consultant for industry, banks and associations as well as for public contractors.
The general managers Thorsten Frey and Peter Trute set up the company in 1996 out of their joint activity in climate ecology at the Institute of Physical Geography and Landscape Ecology at the University of Hanover. The interest for environmental meteorology and environmental planning led the way to the subject of renewable energy, especially wind energy.
Meanwhile, GEO-NET consists of a close networking team of 50 experts and engineers (meteorologists, geographers and planners) and 2 chief executive officers.
Between the University of Hanover and GEO-NET is a close cooperation in research and praxis. Together with Prof. Dr. Günter Groß from the Institute of Meteorology and Climatology at the University of Hanover, the mesoscale model FITNAH-3D is used and optimized for the calculation of wind fields and climatic parameters.

With more than 4000 projects in more than 50 countries worldwide, GEO-NET shows its long time and global experience in wind and energy yield assessments, wind atlases and wind measurements with LiDAR and masts.
The rising air pollution and human-bioclimatical impact demands conceptions for a sustainable urban development, adjusted to the climatical and aerial situation. Detailed problem and process-oriented air and climate analysis provide the relevant information in consideration of planning processes.
