Founded in 2003, GeorgiaFIRST Robotics uses multiple robotics programs to transform the lives of young people, bring economic opportunity to underserved communities, and create the workforce of the future in Georgia. With a ~$1M budget, small staff, and over 1,000 volunteers, GeorgiaFIRST Robotics hosts training programs, workshops, camps, and competitions that serve more than 15,000 elementary, middle, and high school students. One goal of the FIRST program is to inspire a larger population of young
people to pursue post-secondary education in a STEM-related field (such as
engineering, computer science, physics, biology, medicine, trade industries,
entrepreneurship) and to prepare them for success in further studies by helping them gain admission to the academic institution of their choice and ensure they have the required independence, confidence, and self-discipline required for success.
