Gepo Aali

Gepo Aali aims to nurture back the lost indigenous crop variety of the region using traditional farming practices. The startup currently is working to address the delocalization of food crops and restore a millet variety in the region. Furthermore, we intend to work towards the disappearance of specific taste and material culture associated with the cultivation of food which leads to the loss of integral cultural elements of a tribe associated with the particular food. Taking into consideration how tribal identities are endangered given the push of enforced urbanisation/ centralisation /migration, Gepo Aali strives to work in the intersection of language and food crop to preserve this identity and the natural ecosystem.
