GerrisBoats, an innovative startup, has its origins in Verme Projects, an Italian firm specializing in yachting engineering, design, and architecture. Verme Projects and GerrisBoats are backed by an in-house team of over 20 experienced naval designers and engineers, each with a wealth of knowledge and expertise gained from over 25 years in the yachting industry. Gerrisboats is the owner of patents for cutting-edge hybrid foiling technologies that are intended to support the decarbonisation of the maritime industry, reduce noise pollution that affects marine life, and lessen the effects of waves that cause seasickness and bank erosion. These innovations and vessels are built with zero-emission, zero-wave, and zero-noise operating systems. The name "Gerris" comes from "Gerride", an insect known for skating on water, especially in lake environments. The craft is designed with a submerged body, controlled descent wings, a movable wing system with sensors, and dedicated flight control software. The Gerris boat's propulsion system is configured for both hybrid and fully electric operation and also can adapt to other variants, such as hydrogen propulsion.
