I have 20+ years of experience in information technology with an emphasis on database systems and data analytics. I am a "data guy" and absolutely love math, statistics in particular. Many of my skills involve the process of extracting and transforming data into meaningful information that will be used by operations to do their jobs or by management and executives to make business decisions. As you would expect, I have experience with a variety of databases including MySQL and have formal training in Oracle database administration. SQL is like a second language to me and like other data scientists, I live in Excel. I also have extensive experience with Tableau and the world of data visualization. I possess an instinctive intuition when it comes to recognizing the patterns, relationships and connections that exist between various pieces of data. Coupled with strong math and analytical skills, I've been regarded throughout my career as a data analysis and reporting guru. My experience also includes managing an IT support staff dispersed over a large geographic area and providing technical assistance with hardware, software, and even office relocations. The demands of coordinating IT support for a couple dozen offices and thousands of individuals has given me an amazing insight into the challenges inherent in any technical support organization and a unique perspective on the impact such organizations have on the overall functioning of a company. Another key aspect of my IT career has been as a systems analyst helping departments and organizations make better use of information technology to increase their productivity, effectiveness, and cost savings. This experience has enabled me to refine my skills at bridging the communications gap that frequently exists between operations personnel, management, and technical support/development staff. As a result, I'm often called upon to help facilitate discussions between these groups.
