Saga GER verslana nær allt aftur til ársins 1964 þegar Húsgagnahöllin var stofnuð. Grunnurinn að félaginu er þó yngri og byrjar árið 1994 þegar verslun var opnuð með nýja byltingakennda vöru undir merkjum Tempur var stofnuð og stuttu síðar varð Betra Bak. Árið 2009 var svo öðru vörumerki bætt við undir nafninu Dorma en Húsgagnahöllin bættist svo við árið 2012. Öll þrjú vörumerkin eru því rótgróin á íslenskum markaði með húsgögn og húsbúnað en auk þess hefur GER heildverslun verið starfandi fyrir fyrirtækjamarkað frá þeim tíma. Fimmta vörumerki GER heildverslana bættist við árið 2019 þegar opnuð var glæsileg verslun Hästens innan verslunar Betra Baks.
Alla tíð hafa vörumerki GER verslana lagt áherslu á vandaðar og glæsilegar hönnunarvörur frá mörgum að þekktustu og stærstu framleiðendum heims.
