At In A Mood, we are positive that self-care has the power to improve people’s human existence, changing and bettering their lives. We believe that people’s vibes and moods are often a product of the outside-world, while controlling the inner-world is at the forefront of happiness. Most of all, we know that now more than ever, investing in mental health and self-care is not just a luxury but rather a need against the world’s social and political climate. With homemade origins in an apartment kitchen, In A Mood was founded by Daniel Burke, a queer person of color, disabled Army veteran, and purveyor of moods. While making desired life changes, having battled addiction, mental health issues, chronic homelessness, and overwhelming shame from not measuring up to the innumerable social expectations, Daniel saw a need for better tools and increased opportunity and access to self-care. From telling his mom that he’s “in a mood,” so that she knew he was struggling mentally; to extensive work with varying therapy modalities; to discovering appreciation in the metaphysical, Daniel found a freeing practice of existence in life and a passion for mind and body wellness in self-care and improving his self-worth and self-efficacy. With an academic background focused on human behavior, Daniel enters the wellness field with an Associate of Arts degree in sociology and psychology, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Organizational Behavior Studies, and is a Master of Business Administration candidate with a focus in marketing. Combining his academic knowledge with the wisdom acquired from his self-discovery journey, Daniel is dedicated in purpose, passion, and relentlessness to sharing what has become, In A Mood, to empower people’s lives and the human existence.
