Goldfinch Small Home Design is a building design studio based in Courtenay, Vancouver Island, BC, Canada. We are a husband and wife team with over 20 years of experience working with architects and builders. We are parents and designers who are concerned with the state of the housing market and we are passionate about helping people afford their own homes. We specialize in affordable materials kits for small houses that are simple, beautiful and well-crafted. By keeping our designs simple and making smart use of materials, we can help keep the cost of building low and ensure your project makes financial sense. Our design process sets us apart because we focus on making your project as easy for you as possible, from the first drawing to the last nail. From sheds and garages to garden suites, carriages houses and laneway houses, we deliver customizable kits for any of our pre-designed plans. Did you know that labour alone typically accounts for 40 to 60% of a new build? Kits radically reduce that cost. In addition to designing buildings, we can guide you through the maze of regulations and permit applications and even build your new building for you.
