Gdańsk Foundation for Social Innovation

Gdańsk Foundation for Social Innovation is an organization with extensive experience in building and implementing effective solutions directed towards persons and communities at risk of social exclusion. We are a leading partner from the NGO sector in the process of transforming the care system for youth deprived of parental care in Pomerania. We have created and implemented a pioneering work methodology that puts the child and its needs in the center. Today, we run 6 intimate Homes for Children in the Tri-City, guaranteeing 84 young people safety, specialist support and development for an independent, adult life. We have developed and we are implementing a unique program of independence building among young adults raised within foster care. We provide them with the space to acquire social and professional competences, basing on employment in our 2 social companies . We build a safe start into the adult life of young persons from Homes for Children, through the supported housing program,. We are the operator of 12 assisted housing apartments. The important segment of the foundation's activity is work in the local environment. We created and we have been running since 2010, the Neighborhood House "Gościnna Przystań" in Gdańsk Orunia. This is where the potential of a strong community is built. We provide the local community with essential social services, as well as cultural and community building projects. As experts in social work, we were invited by the City of Gdynia to create a place that stimulates social development and revitalization in Oksywie district. SPOT Północ is a safe support place for children and young people from the local environment. In our developmental strategy, we focus on solutions that use personal potential, local conditions and extensive cooperation, leading to durability and rooting of the services in the local community. We are a learning focused organization with extensive experience in creating change.
