Ghaf School

The name of the school is derived from the ‘Ghaf Tree’ which has been declared as the national tree of the UAE. This tree is a drought-tolerant, evergreen tree that is native to the desert and thus is a resilient plant. It links into the theme of the Year 2019, which is Tolerance; as it is seen as nature’s symbol of tolerance. Resilience and tolerance are two moral values among others that we encourage our students to develop throughout their time at GPS. GPS offers a world-class, cutting-edge education that incorporates a teaching philosophy that has a child’s holistic development at its core. Our focus centers on complete emotional, physical, and cognitive well-being as well as achieving significant academic milestones. This means, over time a child is significantly more successful. GPS aims to provide students with the best possible learning steps. We strive for our students to grow and develop in a stimulating and safe environment, filled with amazing learning opportunities that both challenge and motivate our students to reach their full potential. We believe that it is our role to foster a love of learning and to equip our students with the skills and resources required for a bright future. Our students learn in a very exciting and stimulating environment. The building contains a range of carefully designed learning spaces, including flexible classrooms, in/outdoor activity spaces, and classrooms dedicated to DART/STEAM, Music, and IT. We emphasize “active learning” and personal “hands-on” experiences, focusing on developing the learning process through free, directed, and creative play, as well as through more formal activities. Technology and innovative education are important tools that support our teaching methodology and allow us to make learning both creative and engaging for our students.
