About Global Health PEARL
The $90 million, five-year Global Health Program Evaluation, Analysis, Research, and Learning (GH PEARL) project is implemented by a partner consortium led by the Carolina Population Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in partnership with GEMNet-Health; icddr,b; Ifakara Health Institute; Palladium International; Q2 Impact; and Tulane University. GH PEARL will run from October 1, 2023, to September 30, 2028. GH PEARL facilitates the effective generation and use of high-quality data and evidence to strengthen policies and program implementation to improve health and save lives in low- and middle-income countries. With experience that spans 114 countries, GH PEARL consortium partners are located within 12 countries across 3 continents and have a range of technical capabilities in monitoring, evaluation, research, and learning (MERL) implementation. Guided by three principles—(1) expanding leadership and funding of local partners, (2) focusing on data use, and (3) promoting equity—GH PEARL leverages global technical leadership expertise in family planning; reproductive health; maternal, newborn, and child health and nutrition (FP/RMNCH+N), and other priority areas of global health work such as child protection, climate change, HIV, malaria, and tuberculosis. With an unwavering commitment to high-quality data and evidence, GH PEARL’s targeted MERL approaches, capacity strengthening of local actors engaged in MERL, and knowledge translation and management services will optimize policies and programmatic outcomes for preventing maternal and child deaths. GH PEARL builds upon decades of experience in MERL from the legacies of MEASURE Evaluation and the Data for Impact (D4I) project. GH PEARL will facilitate MERL capacity strengthening aligned with local priorities through training, learning-by-doing, mentorship, and other interventions.
