Gisborne District Council is the unitary authority for Gisborne/Tairāwhiti New Zealand. We are both the district and regional council. Tairāwhiti is the first place in the world to see the rising sun and our region covers the largest land area in the eastern North Island, covering 8355 square kilometres with 1889km of roads.
