GLASGOW INDEPENDENT STUDIO

Glasgow Independent Studio (GIS), established in 1995, is a beacon of support for independent art practice. As one of the oldest artist-run organisations in Scotland, GIS serves as both a community and an arts facility, providing artists with studios, workshops, and, since 1997, a committee-run exhibition space known as the Glasgow Project Room (GPR). Our public programme features twelve exhibitions with monthly openings and various satellite events each year. We are located at the heart of the Centre for Arts and Creativity within the Trongate 103 complex in downtown Glasgow, alongside other arts organisations such as Street Level Photoworks and Glasgow Print Studio. Anyone is welcome to apply for a studio space or to showcase their work. In line with our commitment to supporting artists' development and experimentation, we offer the GPR space for free to self-directed projects selected through an annual open call.
