Gleentown was founded in Los Angeles, United States of America, in 2014.
We believe in "Education should never be a privilege. It is a right despite wealth status, race, ethnicity, nor any other reasons. Each child deserves a right to get an equal quality education."
For the past six years, Gleentown has recruited over 180 International volunteers and hosted 16 summer camps for over 1800 marginalized students in 7 different schools in rural China. We provide leading, innovative, and personalized liberal arts and STEM courses to rural students who previously do not have access to it due to systematic educational inequality gaps. Through hybrid teaching methods, we aim to strengthen children's 21-century skills and prepare them to become independent life-long learners. Gleentown is currently an incubating project in Tsinghua University's X-lab. It was also the first Chinese social venture that becomes the in-class material in Northeastern University Introduction to Marketing with Professor Amir Grinstein in 2018 and has won the First Prize in the 2019 Tsinghua University Social Innovation Competition. In 2021 summer, Gleentown will host its first for-profit summer camp collaborated with corporate CSR and re-contribute the profit to other 3 rural summer camps for about 600 students.
