MISSION:
Global Orphan Prevention is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that prevents the abduction of children for purposes of the orphan trade or child sex trafficking through our 3 Es for prevention: Empowerment, Education, and Economic Development.
VISION:
We envision a world in which families are able to stay together, and where no child is forgotten or separated because of economic disadvantage in health, income, or circumstance. We envision the reverberation of a world in which the familial value will have an exponential impact beyond the individual.
ORPHAN TRADE:
In developing countries, 85% of children in orphan homes have living parents (UNICEF). For-profit orphanages take advantage of widowed or abandoned mothers that cannot afford to keep their children.
CHILD SEX TRAFFICKING:
1.2 million children around the world are trafficked. In Nepal, up to 10,000 women and girls are trafficked to India each year for sexual exploitation. Victims are often illiterate due to economic disadvantages making them vulnerable to be lured and manipulated (UNICEF).
