Global Wales

Global Wales was set up in 2015 a growing and developing programme to raise awareness about Wales, build on international partnerships with universities and promote Welsh universities in key overseas markets. Global Wales is a one Wales partnership between: Universities Wales The Welsh Government ColegauCymru British Council Wales Higher Education Funding Council for Wales (HEFCW). Global Wales is funded by Taith. Global Wales’ key areas of work include: • Delivering a consistent message about the quality and diversity of the Welsh HE offer in terms of research, skills, knowledge exchange, and student experience with a view to driving further overseas investment to Wales - including: 1. Facilitating and funding international research collaboration 2. Providing international scholarship funding and partnering with major international scholarship awarding bodies 3. Supporting outward mobility opportunities for students and staff 4. Building international student recruitment to Wales through its priority markets in the USA, India, Vietnam and Europe – through market development initiatives with key partners and stakeholders. 5. Investing in the Study in Wales brand to deliver marketing campaigns in these key international markets, plus raising awareness of Welsh universities to potential students in England. • Facilitating mutually beneficial partnerships with key Welsh sectors to further develop international links and to attract inward investment and tourism. This includes incorporating the Study in Wales brand into the award-winning Cymru Wales brand to promote Wales to the world – across all sectors and markets – as a creative, contemporary and high-quality country, proud of who we are and evolving for the future. • Providing increased support to institutions in their existing international activities to support the internationalisation of Welsh universities and to project a more joined up view of the Welsh offer.
