Global Implementation Solutions (GIS) is a Chicago-based 501(c)3 non-profit organization, incorporated in May 2009. GIS is organized and operated exclusively for charitable, scientific, and educational purposes, and more specifically, to provide support that improves healthcare systems in resource limited countries. GIS Western is a locally registered affiliate in Kenya, with a main office located in Nairobi and a subsidiary office in Kisumu City. The organization is dedicated to using locally based technical staff, consultants and experts within the region.
GIS receives funding from various sources, including:
- US Department of Health and Human Services, CDC
- US Department of State – Biosecurity Engagement Program (BEP)
- US Department of State – Nonproliferation and Disarmament Fund (NDF)
GIS believes in utilizing and building local capacity that will sustain projects beyond the close of project funding. We have strengths in the following areas:
- Surveillance, laboratory and public health workforce development systems strengthening
- Strengthening emergency preparedness, detection and response capabilities through Public Health Emergency Operations Centers (PHEOCs)
- Biosecurity legislation, regulatory and policy frameworks development through consultative process
- Digital systems including cybersecurity in health settings
- One Health and zoonotic disease trainings, workshops and conferences
