Global Mine Design Ltd (GMD) was established in 2013 with the goal of creating a company specialising in the practical application of geotechnical data to strategic and long-term mine plans at operational mine sites. Understanding how an orebody behaves during extraction is essential to safe, efficient mine production and is a fundamental component of providing a Positive Net Impact to all communities and stakeholders.
Over the past 10 years, GMD has grown into a team of mining engineers, geotechnical engineers, and geoscientists focussed on mine engineering, geomechanics, seismicity, and ventilation. Our experience shows that integration of geotechnical data into mine plans leads to safer, more economical mining assets that help sustain and develop communities. These aspects are core to GMD philosophy and our approach with clients.
GMD personnel explain technical details to mining personnel of all disciplines and abilities, and are committed to helping clients develop and implement systematic improvements on a continual basis. We believe in empowering mine employees throughout the implementation process, from provision of management-focussed audits and strategic planning training courses, to personnel-focussed development using subject-based training and mentoring programs.
Based in the historic mining region of Cornwall, which is now the mining centre of the UK Green Industrial Revolution, GMD has strong links to the international mining community, including Camborne School of Mines. We also have working partnerships with Cardiff, Swansea, and Plymouth universities to mentor and develop students with skillsets applicable to the mining industry.
