Global Business Council (GBC)

The Global Business Council (GBC) is an international chamber of commerce and industry having as its mission to promote trade and investment around the world. The GBC is headquartered in the island of Mauritius which has as its national emblem the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean. During the era of sail ships which plied the oceans and transported the luxury and exotic products from the East Indies to Europe and America, Mauritius acted as an important transit port and trading post along the maritime trade routes. Today, Mauritius serves as a financial hub to promote and channel investment into Africa, the final frontier of economic development. In 2017, out of USD 42 billion invested into Africa, about USD 30 billion was managed and processed by the Mauritian International Financial Center (IFC).
