Glucose is the predominant energy source for the preterm brain, vital for its healthy development. Excessively low blood glucose concentration (BGC) is a common risk for 2.9 million very- and extremely premature infants every year, leading to irreversible brain damage with lifelong disabilities.
Gluckli is the future revolutionary medical device that continuously measures BGC in very- and extremely preterm infants in a safe and non-invasive manner, eliminating the risk of irreversible brain damage and lifelong disabilities caused by low BGC.
The Gluckli Glucosensor collects the preterm baby glucose over the skin, the performance of the Gluckli Glucosensor is regulated by the Gluckli Control Unit, which ensures a regulated safe non-invasive patient-sample collection.
Gluckli requires no calibration or reference values of any nature, a ground-breaking technology.
Currently, Gluckli is a pre-seed stage project hosted at the Biomedical Optics Research Laboratory BORL from the department of Neonatology of the University Hospital Zurich USZ and the University of Zurich UZH.
