In GMR Human Performance, human factors is our core business and the sustainability of human skilled performance is our passion. All our clients place a heavy burden on people to achieve their outcomes. We rely on people to apply processes and procedures but human performance does not occur in a vacuum. It is subject to a number of influences. As human factors professionals we understand these influences and their effect on skilled work. Skilled work is governed by the fundamental limitations and capabilities of the human cognitive system coupled with our capacities for perception, attention, memory and decision-making, to name but a few. We apply this understanding of human performance along with our clients to design the interfaces that people will use, to form the organisations and processes that shape their behaviour, to anticipate the failures of cognition that can drive errors, and to reduce risk of poor performance. Aided by academic, bespoke, and in-house models and tools, we understand what drives human behaviours; cognitive processing, and the influence of biases, heuristics and fallacies on decision making. Effective utilisation of human factors in dispute resolution means these incident occurrences can be identified more readily and resolved with more certainty, creating lasting resolutions.
