UCLA G.O. Discovery Laboratory

The G.O. Discovery Lab is a research laboratory focused on studying gynecologic oncology (G.O.). It is located at the University of California, Los Angeles, affiliated with the Eli and Edythe Broad Stem Cell Research Center, the Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center, the UCLA Molecular Biologic Institute, the David Geffen School of Medicine, and the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center. We use basic science to develop new and better treatments for gynecologic cancers. The lab was founded in 2008 by Dr. Sanaz Memarzadeh and is funded by federal grants, awards from foundations and private donations. The G.O. Discovery Lab focuses on overcoming the clinical problem of therapy resistance found in two poorly understood and under-studied gynecologic malignancies, endometrial and ovarian carcinoma. Although our work focuses on these two diseases, many of our findings are applicable to other cancers in addition to gynecologic carcinomas. Everything we investigate in the lab comes from a question in the clinic. Dr. Sanaz Memarzadeh isn't just an accomplished researcher, she also treats patients directly in the operating room. At G.O.
