Interlocal

Interlocal is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit for high school students from North Central Ohio whose mission is to promote citizenship through international enrichment and civic engagement. Activities showcase community organizations as well as those in nearby cities in Ohio as examples of an increasingly globalized economy and world. The program consists of a variety of site visits, which are both place-based and experiential. Through these visits, Interlocal instills a sense of collective pride and ownership both of students’ community and home state, while simultaneously exposing them to new ideas with an international focus. Student outcomes include an understanding of their culture and community in a global context, and an appreciation for the work of nearby businesses and organizations. In the future, participants will be able to apply knowledge gained through the Interlocal experiences in post-secondary studies, career and beyond.
