Golden Telecom, Inc. (GTI) is a facilities-based provider of integrated telecommunication and Internet services throughout Russia and other countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). The Company offers voice, data and Internet services to corporations, operators and consumers using its overlay network in cities throughout Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, and via intercity fiber optic and satellite-based networks, including approximately 289 combined access points in Russia and other countries of the CIS. In addition, GTI offers mobile services in the Ukrainian cities of Kiev and Odessa. The Company has four business segments: Business and Corporate Services; Carrier and Operator Services; Consumer Internet Services, and Mobile Services. In December 2007, GTI acquired New Telecom Technologies. In March 2008, Vimpel-Communications, through its subsidiary, VimpelCom Finance B.V., completed the acquisition of GTI.
