Golden Gate Racing

Formula SAE is an international competition, where teams from all over the world competes in their design of the car. The concept of Formula SAE is to sell a Formula-styled car to a fictional manufacturing company. As the prototype gets evaluated in different criteria, it is then when the team is allowed to participate in the amateur autocross. The Formula SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) Team at S.F. State, Golden Gate Racing, is a newly established student operated Motorsports team. It began in 2016 when group of seniors decided to expand their design project to SFSU Society of Automotive Engineers. We have dedicated members across all engineering disciplines and business majors with the goal to design, manufacture, and test a purpose-built Formula One-style race car to compete against 80 other universities from across the world in the upcoming Formula SAE Lincoln and Orange County competition. As an engineering team, we operate the team as a business, with various subdivisions and leads tasks in running them. SAE is not exclusive to engineering students; it is for anyone who wants to be part of a team!
