About Gone Norf
Gone Norf supports local creatives, strengthens Northern cultural identity and contributes to a more balanced and inclusive UK media landscape. As cultural investment finally begins reaching the North - with initiatives such as Sunderland’s £450m Crown Works Studios and the North East Screen Industries Partnership, our mission is to ensure that grassroots, working-class and regional voices are part of the conversation shaping the UK’s creative future. Gone Norf is an independent arts and culture magazine paired with a social club, created to champion Northern creatives, amplify underrepresented voices and build a community around shared cultural identity. Founded by Rosie Callaghan, Gone Norf was born from a desire to challenge outdated stereotypes of the North and spotlight the depth, diversity and talent embedded within our communities. We exist to prove that creative success can, and should happen in the North. We celebrate untold stories and overlooked perspectives through print media, events and partnerships that connect artists, photographers, musicians, writers and independent businesses. Originally conceptualised during Factory International’s Factory X Heads programme and developed further through Managing Creative Projects training, Gone Norf has grown from an Instagram-based digital platform into a developing publication with a clear strategy for community engagement, regional impact, and long-term growth.
