Emerging artist Goona from Santa Rosa, California creates his own brand of melodic rap, a genre of music fusing the rhythm-based lyricism of rap music with pop music's preference for melodious vocals. Growing up listening to artists like 50 Cent, Wu-Tang Clan, Boosie Badazz, Backstreet Boys, and Usher, he's been inspired most recently by American rapper, singer, and songwriter YoungBoy Never Broke Again. Gunnar Arteseros - 23 years old I'm from Santa Rosa, CA I started writing, producing, mixing, and mastering my music about a year and a half ago. But I've always had a passion for music since I can remember. I started making music because I finally broke through my anxiety of caring what other people think about me, which was holding me back for a long time. My genre is rap/pop, I like to sing so maybe R&B too. My most successful track is, "Keep Going" ft. Yung Bart(my older brother) with over 20k streams on Spotify, but one of my latest releases, "Ride for me" is catching up. I'm inspired by Youngboy Never Broke Again, I been listening to his music since the first mixtape he dropped. I guess I just connect with what he was talking bout. All I can tell y'all is, don't sleep on me, I'm not like these other rappers, I'm putting everything into this. I will make it, I refuse to lose to some of the trash in the industry.
