Gorilla Junction Foundation

Gorilla Junction Foundation is a nonprofit organization based in Nkuringo, southwestern Uganda, dedicated to empowering local communities through sustainable tourism, conservation, and skills development. Located at the edge of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to the endangered mountain gorilla, we bridge the gap between wildlife conservation and community livelihoods. Our mission is to ensure that tourism not only protects nature but also uplifts the people who live alongside it. We focus on: Community-based tourism that channels benefits directly to local families Vocational training for women and youth (tailoring, craft-making, conservation education) Environmental restoration through tree planting and climate awareness Developing inclusive community spaces like the Robert Brierley Memorial Community Centre We work in close partnership with local stakeholders, international NGOs (including Sewing Seeds Canada), eco-lodges, and the Uganda Wildlife Authority, aligning our efforts with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and global sustainable tourism standards.
