SolSmart

SolSmart provides no-cost technical assistance to help local governments adopt national best practices to expand solar energy use in their jurisdictions. The program recognizes and celebrates these communities with SolSmart designations of Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze. To date, over 540 local governments in 44 states, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico have achieved SolSmart designation. SolSmart is led by the Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC) and the International City/County Management Association (ICMA), along with numerous other partner organizations with expertise in solar energy and local government. Funded by the DOE Solar Energy Technologies Office, this team helps local governments and regional organizations implement national best practices that expand energy options and spur economic growth.
