Grant Foundry LLC Carolyn Anderson, PhD – Principal carolyn@thegrantfoundry.com Offerings: Hourly support for grant (individual or institutional), fellowship, and manuscript preparation and editing, as well as creation of ChemDraw figures and schemes. Areas of specialization include the National Science Foundation, private foundations, and all levels of fellowship applications. Additional expertise in the National Institutes of Health and Department of Defense funding mechanisms. Workshops aimed at grant ideation and development, as well as workshops for undergraduate, graduate, and post-doctoral scholars, focused on either fellowship applications or manuscript writing, are available. Carolyn Anderson’s Qualifications - Maintained continuous external funding from 2006-2022 for my research group at Calvin University - Served as a Scientific Grant Writer for the Metabolism and Nutritional Programming and MeNu Program at the Van Andel Research Institute (August 2022 – August 2023) - Served as the lead writer and PI for a funded NSF S-STEM grant ($1M, 2019-2025) - Served as a reviewer on 10+ NSF panels (e.g., CCI, CAREER, CHEM-SYN, GRFP) and as an ad hoc reviewer (e.g. CHEM-SYN, S-STEM, CCI) - 8+ years as part of the external leadership of the Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation (e.g., Beckman Scholars Program, AOB Post-doctoral Fellows Program, JEDI Committee) - Calvin University institutional representative to the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship Competition (2011-2019), including mentoring 40+ applicants of whom 19 were named as Scholars and 15 received honorable mentions. (Among primarily undergraduate institutions, only Pomona College had more Goldwater Scholars from 2008-2019.) - Extensive experience creating figures, schemes, and tables using ChemDraw and PowerPoint. - Successful grant and manuscript writing samples are available upon request.
