Grassland Bird Trust

Grassland Bird Trust company information, Employees & Contact Information

The Grassland Bird Trust (“GBT”) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit land trust conserving critical habitat for endangered, threatened and rapidly declining grassland birds. The bird population in North American has declined by three billion birds since 1970. Grassland birds are the fastest declining group of birds: the breeding population of grassland birds has declined by 53% since 1970. It is GBT’s mission to conserve critical habitat in the Audubon designated Fort Edward Important Bird Area (the “IBA”). The IBA supports 10 of 11 grassland birds listed as “species of greatest conservation need” in the New York State Wildlife Action Plan. Among the grassland birds that rely on the IBA for survival are the endangered Short-eared Owl, the threatened Northern Harrier (formerly known as the Marsh Hawk), American Kestrels, Bobolinks, Eastern Meadowlarks, Upland Sandpipers, and Horned Larks.
