Grave Creek Mound Archaeological Complex

Grave Creek Mound Archaeological Complex (GCMAC) is the site steward of "Grave Creek Mound", an early-middle Woodland burial mound. The complex is also home to a museum of West Virginia geology, history, and archaeology and the location of the West Virginia Collection Management and Research Facility. GCMAC is a part of the West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture and History. The Grave Creek Mound Archaeological Complex is committed to fostering a sense of stewardship and passion for cultural heritage in West Virginia. We carry out this commitment through site preservation, museum exhibition, educational programs, collections, and research. Visitors to Grave Creek Mound Archaeological Complex gain an understanding of diverse West Virginia lifeways and are asked to challenge their assumptions about the past.
