About Green Britain Group
The Green Britain Group is at the forefront of the global green industrial revolution. Forward-thinking, innovative, low-carbon – our businesses are pioneers in the new green economy. Led by Founder Dale Vince OBE, the companies in the group are fighting the climate crisis by offering consumers and businesses another way of doing things in the industries that create the most atmospheric carbon – energy, transport and food. It all started in 1995 with Ecotricity, the world’s first Green Electricity company. The company’s mission was and remains to change the way energy is made and used in Britain. In 2010 the company introduced the concept of Green Gas to Britain and became a fully-fledged deep Green Energy company. More recently the company has started building plants to produce our very own Green Gas from grass. It’s a pretty revolutionary idea that could transform the way we heat our homes in a sustainable way. The company operates a unique model. It uses customers’ energy bills to fund the building of new sources of Green Energy. ‘Bills into Mills’ – energy bills into windmills. It is a not-for-dividend company – profits go into the mission. Since kickstarting and accelerating the green energy revolution, the Group has evolved to pump-prime the decarbonisation of many of the big-emitting sectors and industries from the development of a national network of EV charge points known as The Electric Highway to the world of Sport. The Group now includes: Forest Green Rovers FC – the world’s greenest and only vegan-certified football club; Skydiamond – the world’s most sustainable diamond producer, literally making diamonds from the sky; Ecotalk – a mobile phone business that gives back to nature; Britwind – the UK’s only remaining onshore wind turbine manufacturer; Devil’s Kitchen – supplying schools, universities, hospitality and homes around the country with delicious and healthy vegan food and the list goes on.
