Green Watts is a company developing a renewable energy projects which has managed to reach financial close on a 86MW wind farm in Al Rajef, Jordan in line with the current strategy of the Jordanian government on the renewable energy.
The project will use 41 2.1MW G114 Gamesa Wind Turbines targeting the following major goals:
Strategic : The project will target to build a 86MW power plant; the plant is expected to supply 280MWh/yr of electricity to the Jordanian grid as part of the Jordanian strategy of renewable energy which targets to supply the grid with 10% of the electricity demand from renewable sources of energy by 2020. The project targets also to support the expansion endeavors by the Government to increase the electricity generation capacity.
Environmental : The project will use clean hybrid energy only which will leave its positive foot print on the environment in line with the international and local direction to reduce the causes and effects of global warming.
Economic : Reduce the burden of incidental direct and indirect subsidy and wherepossible reduce or stabilize electricity selling rates to the Jordanian citizens.
Social : The project intends to draw the attention to the uderdeveloped areas in southern Jordan by providing local job opportunities to the citizens of Ma’an and Tafila.
