The GreenH2CY will produce “green hydrogen” for the transport/mobility sector in Cyprus. The electrolyser will be powered by renewable electricity whilst it will also be acting as an energy storage facility making use of electricity not in demand and therefore otherwise to be discarded.
The project will support the decarbonisation efforts of the transport sector by using renewable electricity and thus contributing to the reduction of GHG emissions by replacing conventional fuels. The relative GHG emissions avoidance, due to the operation of the project over a 10 year period is a 100%.
The project is funded by the Innovation Fund of the European Union.
