The ”GREEN HEAT – towards collaborative local decarbonization” project (acronym GREENHEAT) benefits from a € 1 319 998 grant from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA Grants. The aim of the project is to contribute to elimination of fossil fuelled boilers in Poland and presenting the feasible scenarios to decarbonise energy systems in Polish households. Specific objectives: - to conduct the selected Pilot Case, in a chosen community in the City of Legionowo in Poland, - to develop a tailored business model with specific technology recommendations and to indicate potential investors and sources of financing to support the elimination of fossil fuel-fired boilers -to develop the methodology for replicability and further future implementation in other cities in Poland, based on procedures established during Pilot Business Case analysis. The project approaches the problem in an interdisciplinary way, where a change of energy system is conceptualised as a potential vehicle for a social change towards sustainability transition and development of new business models in energy sector. Engaging the local community and key stakeholders will hopefully result in an increase of civic awareness of sustainability challenges. The project is looking at the problem from different perspectives: social, technical and economical. The project consortium consists of: - The Szewalski Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery Polish Academy of Sciences, Coordinator (IMP PAN, PL) - Kozminski University (ALK, PL) - Norwegian Institute for Air Research (NILU, NO) - University of Bergen (UiB, NO) - The Maria Grzegorzewska University (APS, PL) - CASE - Center for Social and Economic Research (CASE, PL) - KEZO Foundation at the Research Center of the Polish Academy of Sciences (KEZO Foundation, PL) The GREENHEAT project is co-financed in 15% (€ 198 000) from the state budget of the Republic of Poland.
