HELP KIDS IN TANZANIA TO TAKE CLIMATE CARE ACTION THE GREENMANJARO FOUNDATION initiates, enables and facilitates The Kilimanjaro Climate Care projects for kids in close cooperation with local NGOs, Jane Goodall Institute and FT Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. KILIMANJARO, THE HIGHEST MOUNTAIN IN AFRICA has become a symbol of climate change. Massive deforestation has occurred over the years resulting in bare sandy plains and dire living conditions. Tourists climbing the mountain leave tonnes of waste behind, and the local people are unaware of the environmental impact. GREENMANJARO aims to improve the environment and pioneers The Kilimanjaro Climate Care Projects for Kids to contribute to reversing the negative spiral. We call this the KILI PROMISE TODAY’S CHILDREN ARE TOMORROW’S FUTURE Schoolchildren in the region learn how to improve their environment. Our extra curriculum activities: - Plant trees on school grounds and near water springs to combat drought. - Plant veggie gardens on school grounds and thus add vitamins to lunches - Collect and recycle plastic waste and create new household plastic objects. - Supply childproof recycling machinery and build school workshops. - Grow and nurture tree seedlings for the neglected Rau Forest, one of the few urban forests in East Africa. - Plant trees on school grounds and near water springs to combat drought. - Cultivate toothbrush trees with school kids for oral hygiene.
