Green Periods is an initiative to encourage the use of reusable menstrual products that are good for people, planet and the wallet. Did you know that on average, 12,000 menstrual products are disposed of in a person’s lifetime, which is equivalent to 500 kilograms (1,300 pounds) in weight and $2500 USD spent on disposable products? Ever wondered about your own menstrual impact? Seeing that there was no interactive tool that could measure individual economic and ecological impact of menstruation, we created a menstrual footprint calculator to create awareness. Our smart calculator not only forecasts waste and money associated with your period, but also provides recommendations for sustainable menstruation.
