GreenProtein BBI Project

The GreenProtein project contributes to overcoming the European scarcity of high-quality protein for human consumption by making available to food industry an efficient process based on a patented method to recover fully functional and nutritious RuBisCO protein and other valuable food ingredients such as dietary fibre from vegetable residues. The bio-refinery process is fully carried out by machinery enclosed in a container ready to be “plugged” to the industrial production line. The consortium promoting this project is constituted by 9 partners leading the investigation and agro-food industry in Europe: 1 Large Company, 4 SMEs and 3 research organisations. It is coordinated by the cooperative Cosun (NL) and strongly supported by the excellent research centre WR (NL) who had previous collaborations focused in the revalorization of vegetal residues and the extraction of highly marketable by-products from extinguished production chains. We count as well with the market experience of Ruitenberg Ingredients (NL), the industrial know-how of the BIC member Bionet (ES), the scientific support by INRA (FR) and Union Nicola Tesla University (SB), and the administration and dissemination management of Innovarum (ES).
