Centro de Promoción de la Mujer Gregoria Apaza (ONG)

The Gregoria Apaza Women's Promotion Center is a social development institution in Bolivia that has been working in El Alto since 1983 to promote gender equality and equity. Our mission is to build a Bolivia where all people, regardless of gender or sexual orientation, have their human rights guaranteed and enjoy a dignified life. As a feminist NGO, we are part of a political, social, academic, economic, and cultural movement that drives transformation in the patriarchal system. We proudly carry the name of Gregoria Apaza, an Indigenous leader who made history in Bolivia by leading the Indigenous uprising of 1781. We work in partnership with various organizations to defend women's rights, promoting a life free from violence, with social, political, and economic participation, and gender equity at both local and national levels. We firmly believe that all women should fully exercise their individual and collective rights, regardless of whether they live in urban or rural contexts. 📌 Our areas of action: ✔️ Socio-political sphere: We promote the full exercise of women's rights, including the right to a life free from violence and access to sexual and reproductive rights. ✔️ Economic sphere: We drive actions that contribute to women's economic autonomy. Through our organization, we develop training, counseling, technical assistance, and support for citizen participation. Additionally, we work in communication, knowledge generation, and political advocacy. We participate in conferences and congresses and publish our newspaper "Contextataria", among many other initiatives that strengthen our fight for equity.
