There is very little cross pollination between travel startups and the majority of the travel industry outside of OTAs and the occasional airline with an innovation department. It’s incredibly hard to relationship build with the more traditional side of the industry -- with bed banks, TMCs, tour operators, package tour companies, GDS’s and just about anyone else. Industry insiders want to be angel investors, but they rarely have the opportunity to get into deals as often required check sizes are too big, timing doesn’t work out and access is rare.
