Grubwithus (Y Combinator W11)

Grubwithus Inc. (2010 - 2013) provided a community platform for users to find people to eat with. Users bought tickets to meals at a set price, and users who bought tickets to the same meal end up as lunch or dinner companions. Grubwithus offered restaurant owners exposure and a number of seats under one pre-fixed bill, and offered users the opportunity to meet people at new or favorite dining establishments. Grubwithus also hosted meals that benefit charities. GrubWithUs was founded in 2010 by Eddy Lu and Daishin Sugano, was headquartered in Venice, California, and raised $7.7M from investors including GRP Partners, Y Combinator, Andreessen Horowitz, NEA, First Round, SV Angel, Ashton Kutcher, Vivi Nevo, Yuri Milner, Maynard Webb, Matt Cutts, Elad Gil, Paul Buchheit, Alexis Ohanian and Start Fund.
